As we go into this Thanksgiving holiday week filled with opportunities to pause and give thanks, you may need to remind yourself to be grateful to even the most annoying of unsolicited advice-givers when it comes to your business. There is always a lesson to be learned if only you open your eyes to it! In the end, by practicing gratitude, you will find yourself calmer, wiser and more in control.

I've learned recently the power of micro-commitments in making progress toward some macro goals. When I first started investigating what it would take to really launch a coaching business, a lot of people told me I should start out and build my experience by doing the work for free. While that may work for specific activities, like testing a worksheet, gauging someone’s reaction to the curriculum of a program, or practicing a particular tool, general ongoing coaching for free, I discovered, is a massive failure.
